Saint Valentine’s Day, also known as Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is observed on February 14 each year. It is celebrated in many countries around the world, although it remains a working day in most of them
At an early age we remember spending all night picking out Valentine’s cards for school mates. Back in the day this was a fun day at school. Teachers made heart shape cookies and we ate plenty of chocolate hearts and assorted candies. We never seemed to outgrow our love for all things Valentine’s. We still share cards, exchange gifts and every imaginable token of love we can create.
The day is symbolic for love. For so many it’s the day when promises of love and marriage are in the air including giving and receiving the iconic engagement ring. We plan and prepare surprises for our loved ones. We pick out the perfect outfit, wait patiently for our bouquet of flowers and finish off the day with a romantic dinner.
Although; these are honored traditions, it is also okay to give yourself the perfect Valentine’s gift. In addition to loving others love and take time for you this year. Let this be a guilt free non-judgmental day. Make or buy your own card. Buy yourself some flowers and chocolate. Takeyourself out, order takeout or prepare a home cooked meal. The sky is the limit. Finish off the day with a love letter to yourself. When you take the time to love and care for you then you will have what you need to love and care for others.
